Visit the only garden information park in Holland. In the heart of the Netherlands, between the big rivers Maas and Waal and the cities Tiel, Nijmegen and Oss, you find the small village Appeltern. Since 1992 the Gardens of Appeltern are being located there, it’s the only garden information park in the Netherlands
with over 170 model gardens.

Ada Hofmanos Botanical pond garden
Ada Hofman laid out the stunning 2.25-hectare-large Botanical Pond Garden in 1987. Mrs. Hofman is a well-known Dutch landscape gardener with a range of books on ponds to her name. Her Botanical Pond Garden comprises some thirthy 30 gardens with fifty ponds. Ada Hofman has managed to bring together one of the largest collections of plants, bushes and trees of Holland. You will be surprised by the approximately three thousand species!

Jan Boomkamp Gardens measure some 50,000 square meters. You can enjoy unique gardens, laid out in an always-changing ambience. All gardens have their own style. In addition to the theme gardens, the complex also has a large number of small gardens. These present various styles, including nostalgic, romantic and sleek, modern gardens.

The Hoogelands Model Gardens were opened to the public in the summer of 2000. The gardens were designed by various reputable Dutch landscape architects and designers, including Dick Beijer, Bart Hoes, De Enk, Robert Broekema, Piet Oudolf, Menno Kroon and Beatrix Kleuver. The model gardens are located on the outskirts of the picturesque town of Beekbergen

Mien Ruys’s Gardens are located in Dedemsvaart. Mrs. Ruys is a landscape gardener and daughter of a world-renowned couple of plant growers. Her gardens are experimental gardens. As long ago as 1924, experiments have been carried out in her gardens with various materials, methods and designs. Come and enjoy beautifully laid out gardens in a 25,000-m2-large park.

Parks and gardens
In the 19th century, the park was used by the Kings Governor as an apple orchard and vegetable garden. The grain cellar, where the winter fruits and vegetables were stored so as not to freeze, also dates from this period. You can find the grain cellar tucked away under the trees to the right of the entrance on Drostenlaantje.
