Canal boat tour

Amsterdam can also be called ‘Venice of the North’.
The first canal cruise took place in 1621, Queen Elisabeth Stuart of Bohemia welcomed into the city, and thousands of Amsterdammers welcomed her on the bridges and canal-sides, lots of celebrities took the canal boat and see this beautiful city.

A pleasant hour on a canal boat and a very good way to explore Amsterdam.
It’s a little bit tourist but then again Amsterdam from the water is beautiful day or night, at night all the major canals are lighting up (very romantic), there are several tours: one-hour cruise, architecture cruise, night cruise, red light district cruise, especially the museum boats are very comfortable, the museum boat starts from the Central Station, and stops near all the major museums.

The commentary is reasonably informative, but it gives you a lot off information about the city, Amsterdam as the canals were of great historical importance, the other advantage of a canal tour is that you get a different perspective than from the street.

Amsterdam has about 165 canals, 1281 bridges, 75 canal cruise boats, 8 wooden drawbridges, 2500 houseboats. The four main canals in the canal belt are Prinsengracht (Princes Canal),Keizersgracht (Emperor’s Canal), Herengracht (Gentleman’s Canal ), and Singel, there is only one natural river goes through Amsterdam and that the river Amstel.

There are several companies that do canal boat tours, they offer similar one hour guided cruises for a standard price of 7.50 Euro, leaving from the piers at the street called Damrak near the Central Station.
Your visit to Amsterdam will not be complete if you don’t take one of the canal cruises.
